It can stink to be the new guy on the job sometimes. This is apparently the case for first-year Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson who has yet to coach a single game.
According to a list put together by NFL Media’s Elliott Harrison, Pederson ranks as the worst coach in the league heading into the 2016 campaign.
Harrison sites lack of experience as his reasoning.
“This isn’t fair,” Harrison writes. “Pederson hasn’t so much as coached one game yet. But yeah, he offers no NFL head-coaching experience, like some other guys at the bottom of this list.”
Pederson served as the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach from 2011-12 and returns to Philly after spending the past three seasons as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator.
Pederson was hired to replace Chip Kelly after the Eagles found themselves fed up with the new San Francisco 49ers head man.
Under Pederson’s leadership, the Eagles will look to improve off a disappointing seven-win performance a season ago.
Pederson has to start somewhere. Joining him at the bottom of the barrel are Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey and Adam Gase of the Miami Dolphins.
This just goes to show us how ridiculous preseason power ranking are.
