Report: Johnny Manziel likely facing indictment on Monday

Johnny Manziel

According to a report by Jennifer Emily of The Dallas Morning News, the Dallas grand jury expects to announce an indictment on Monday against former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, who will likely face criminal charges.

This stems from a January incident with ex girlfriend Colleen Crowley, who accused Manziel of kidnapping, assaulting and threatening to kill her. One of the hits Crowley endured was allegedly so hard, her eardrum was reportedly ruptured by Manziel.

Manziel was not arrested after the accusation. Instead, the Dallas police department forwarded the case to the grand jury. According to the report, the district attorney’s office has not given any further details, and Manziel’s lawyer could not be reached to give comment.

Toby Shook, a former prosecutor and Dallas defense attorney, had this to say regarding the upcoming decision: “The way the procedure is, it’s probably an indictment,” per Emily.

If Manziel is found guilty for the Class A misdemeanor assault, the maximum punishment is a $4,000 fine and a year in jail, according to the report.

While Manziel has been awaiting his fate, he has been on a two-month partying tour of the United States and Mexico.

Manziel has been spotted at numerous club scenes in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, taken a trip to Cabo San Lucas, and attended Coachella. During this stretch of time, Manziel reportedly trashed a rental home, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage, and was a passenger in a hit-and-run accident.

Two NFL agents also dropped him along the way.

The laundry list goes on and on. It will be interesting to see his Manziel’s reaction to Monday’s pending announcement by the grand jury.

Though in the meantime, we can probably expect Manziel is going to party hardy with the weekend approaching.
