Miami Heat big man Chris Bosh finds himself in the midst of yet another health scare that could have an impact beyond the court.
For the second consecutive season, Bosh is battling blood clots. Last year, the clots had spread to his lungs, at which point he shut it down following the All-Star Break.
While the prognosis for Bosh’s most recent battle with clots in his legs has been good, it’s being reported that officials within the Miami Heat organization are pressuring Bosh to sit out the remainder of the year.
Per Yahoo Sports NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski:
“Miami Heat All-Star forward Chris Bosh is under increasing pressure from physicians and the organization to sit out the rest of the season because of the potential dangers of a recurring medical condition, league sources told The Vertical.”
This isn’t your normal basketball injury. By returning earlier than doctors are comfortable with, Bosh would be putting his overall health at risk.
Any sort of a fall on to the hardwood or laceration that draws blood would have immediate serious health risks for the future Hall of Famer.
If Bosh were to sit out the remainder of the season, he would then be reevaluated again in three-to-six months to see if he can return to the basketball court.
Yes, Bosh’s most-recent bout with blood clots could very well call into question his NBA career. More than that, those close to him seem to be worried about his health off the court.
Bosh, an 11-time All-Star, is planning to meet with Heat officials within the next 24 hours in order to come to a final conclusion regarding his ability to play this season.
Those who he is set to meet with include owner Mickey Arison and president Pat Riley.
Bosh hasn’t suited up since a February 9 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
