In the early-morning hours on Thursday, TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested for assaulting a police officer. He’s now been officially charged with a third-degree felony, according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.

Boykin was arrested in San Antonio, where TCU is preparing to meet Oregon in the 2016 Alamo Bowl.
After being kicked out of a bar when a scuffle broke out, Boykin continued fighting, “indiscriminately hit an officer” and didn’t stop until officers threatened to tase him, according to NBC San Antonio.
It seems likely TCU head coach Gary Patterson will suspend the senior quarterback, who has racked up 3,575 yards, and 31 touchdowns as well as 612 rushing yards and nine scores during his final season at TCU. He also earned second-team All-American honors in 2014.
Boykin’s future is now even more of a question mark.
The explosive player had previously announced he would switch to wide receiver before the NFL draft, Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram said Boykin will work out at quarterback.
Boykin will likely still hear his name called at the draft, but being arrested for a felony will place a red flag in his character box on NFL scouting reports.
