Report: Mavericks Acquire Zaza Pachulia From Bucks

The Dallas Mavericks didn’t waste any time moving on from the whole DeAndre Jordan fiasco. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the team acquired Zaza Pachulia from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Yahoo Sports insider Marc Spears confirms that Milwaukee will receive a second-round pick in the deal.

It’s not as splashy as signing Jordan, but Pachulia is no slouch. The 31-year-old center will be entering his 13th season in the NBA this fall. He averaged 8.3 points and 6.8 rebounds in 73 games (45 starts) for Milwaukee last season.

Pachulia’s best season came back in 2006-07 when he put up 12.2 points and 6.9 rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks.

Dallas takes on all of Pachulia’s $5.3 expiring contract for the upcoming season. Though, Milwaukee doesn’t save any money under the cap because it made its free agent signings official prior to trading Pachulia. The big man was made available after Milwaukee signed Greg Monroe away from the Detroit Pistons in free agency.

With Tyson Chandler now in Phoenix and Jordan deciding to go back to the Clippers, there is a good chance that Pachulia will be the Mavericks starting center in 2015-16.
