This is what we would call complete crap. The National Football League has apparently cancelled the first ever fantasy football convention which was slated for next month in Las Vegas.
In a statement announcing the cancellation, the event’s organizers had this to say:
“It’s with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce to you that we will be postponing the National Fantasy Football Convention, as we no longer feel comfortable and confident in delivering on our intent, ambitions and opportunities for fans. This is a direct result of sudden and unexpected opposition taken by the NFL concerning player participation and their perceived association with gambling for an event in Las Vegas.”
Originally slated for the weekend of July 10th, the convention was going to feature some of the top stars in the National Football League. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was hosting the convention and was set to be joined by the likes of Dez Bryant, Eddie Lacy, Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and Rob Gronkowski, among many others.
Upon hearing of the cancellation, Romo tweeted this out:

At which point, Dez Bryant responded:

The sad fact is this: Roger Goodell and company screwed up big time here.
Many fans and media personnel had already booked reservations and made flight arrangements. After all, the event was scheduled to start just a month after it was cancelled on Friday.
On a personal level, this one scribe dropped $400.00 on two flights and another $500.00 for hotel reservations on the three-day event—an event that had been in the works for months now.
Tickets were going for a minimum of $200.00 for the three-day event—tickets that most of us had already ordered.
Not a good look, NFL.
