Veteran running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who is currently a free agent and looking to catch on with a team, was suspended one game by the NFL on Monday after pleading no contest to marijuana possession back in May.
Bradshaw, 29, played in 10 games for the Indianapolis Colts last season. He put up over 700 total yards and eight touchdowns during that span, proving he can still play at a high level in this league.
With the one-game suspension, it’s likely Bradshaw will have to wait until teams reassess their running back situations in training camp or an injury occurs. Even then, interest probably won’t pick up until late in the preseason or early in the regular year.
Bradshaw is no longer the same lead back that saw him touch the ball over 320 times for the New York Giants in 2010, but he can still make an impact. In the end, this short suspension likely won’t turn teams away from considering the running back down the road.
