Miami Dolphins Came in Second in Attempt to Trade for Jimmy Graham

Former New Orleans Saints’ tight end Jimmy Graham could have been sent packing to the sunny skies of South Beach, Florida. However, in the end, Graham landed in Seattle where his umbrella will be more useful than his swim shorts moving forward.

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the Miami Dolphins came in at a close second in the race against the Seattle Seahawks in their attempt to score the Pro Bowl tight end.

What, or who did the Dolphins actually offer in exchange for Graham? Was it perhaps pass rusher and four-time Pro-Bowler Cameron Wake who the New Orleans Saints wanted? Unfortunately, the details of the trade offer have not been revealed, leaving us all to our own imaginations on the proposed trade.

Needless to say, the Dolphins did manage an upgrade at tight end by signing Jordan Cameron to the team for a fraction of the price it would have cost to retain tight end Charles Clay. Clay was wooed by the Bills for a cool five-year, $38 million deal.

Thinking back, last season the Seahawks were interested in a possible trade for Percy Harvin between the Cleveland Browns for Cameron. Should that trade have occurred, Cameron would have been the guy catching passes from quarterback Russell Wilson, while Graham may have suited up playing with Ryan Tannehill and crew this year.

Graham definitely landed on the right team. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are left wondering about what could have been.
