Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III recently decided to rid himself of the demons associated with the ankle injury he suffered last season by putting his used cast up for auction.
The proceeds from the auction that took place on February 13 went to RGIII’s charitable foundation, “Family of 3.”
The auction has taken place and the lucky winner of the precious and probably awful-smelling cast was second-year podiatry student at Temple University, Rich Bruno. According to the report, Bruno paid $1,522 for the autographed cast.
Already a big collector of team memorabilia to the tune of 20 team-worn jerseys, helmets, photos and bobbleheads, nothing appealed to him more than RGIII’s used cast which perfectly depicts his career passion.
Speaking about the injury and his reasoning behind bidding on the cast, Bruno had this to say…
It’s like recapturing that moment forever. This is why I’m doing what I do every day. This is just more motivation or desire to be the best I can be.
Whatever floats one’s boat, right?
