Earlier this month, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III got blasted by ex-NBA star Magic Johnson for posting his workout photos on social media.
Now, RGIII’s workout regime is being criticized by Los Angeles’ Lakers’ Kobe Bryant’s ex-trainer, Tim Grover. Here is the Twitter thread of Grover’s “advice” to Griffin.
.@RGIII Saw this photo, concerned about this exercise in light of your previous injuries. See next tweet. pic.twitter.com/KacGLEWyJO

.@RGIII This exercise puts excess stress on ankle/knee/hip, forces abs/glutes to fire incorrectly. Weakens the throw pic.twitter.com/ZhX36Y665V

.@RGIII Hope you don't mind the opinion but I've seen too much go wrong. Work smart, not just hard.

Grover also had some interesting comments to share to the Washington Post regarding RGIII’s workout routine.
If this movement is doing what it looks like it’s doing, it’s putting excessive stress on his ankle, knee and hip,” the trainer said. “We already know he’s had two knee surgeries and a dislocated ankle. If you’re trying to work hip flexor, there are much better ways.”
While it does not appear RGIII has responded, this workout does look pretty brutal on the ankles. For a guy coming off of a dislocated ankle last season, RGIII’s interesting exercise routine certainly looks questionable.
We can at least give RGIII credit for attempting to get into top form prior to his fourth season in the NFL. A season that may very well define his career moving forward.
