2-time Super Bowl champ Brandon Browner lands 8 years in prison

Brandon Browner was once among the most feared cornerbacks in the NFL. He earned a trip to the Pro Bowl and won two Super Bowls during his career. Now he’s behind bars after being sentenced to eight years in prison following a conviction in an attempted murder case.

According to TMZ Sports, Browner pleaded no contest to attempted murder in a court appearance Tuesday.

“On Tuesday, the 34-year-old appeared in court where he pled no contest to 1 count of attempted murder and 2 counts of willful child endangerment. In exchange, the remaining charges (robbery, burglary and false imprisonment) were dropped.”

He originally was accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. After that, he allegedly “chased her, dragged her and then smothering her in a carpet.”

Browner received credit for time served (he’s been imprisoned since July) and was immediately taken back into custody following the hearing, per the report.
