The beginning of Monday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants has been delayed because of something uncommon in San Francisco — heavy lightning.

This isn’t something that either team is used to.
Lightning in California is fairly rare, especially in its big population centers. In San Francisco, a city that’s experienced record highs in late August and early September, rain and lightning is even more unexpected.
As long as you’re in a safe, covered area, the lightning is actually rather pretty to look at. If you’re not in a safe, covered area, find one as soon as possible.
