Ever since he broke into the majors, it’s been hard to find exact comparisons for Mike Trout. The intro for Thursday’s Los Angeles Angels game found some, just not in the traditional way.
Other than being called “one of the best in history,” Trout was not compared to any baseball players. Instead, he was compared to puppies, cool drinks on a warm day, rainbows, and of course, Santa Claus.
If that doesn’t make you want to tune into a game, it’s hard to imagine what will. The background music (clearly inspired by the old Andy Griffith Show) was a nice touch.
Just last season, we heard Rob Manfred say that Trout needed to do more to market himself. Clearly, the commissioner was just not trying hard enough.
