What was thought to have been a brief hold-out in attending training camp due to an unsettled contract extension was a simple case of running out of gas and a dead cell phone for the Chiefs’ running back Jamaal Charles.
I had no intention on holding out…I just ran out of gas on the way to camp and my cell phone battery died. It was a long walk I tell ya.

As silly as it sounds, stuff like this happens, even to star athletes such as Charles. Coincidentally enough, Charles and the Chiefs have reached a resolution regarding Charles’ contract extension. The deal will run through 2017 and pay Charles $18.1 million for an additional two years.
Charles is rightfully deserving of increase in pay, as he was responsible for 35.3 percent of the team’s yards from scrimmage in 2013. Practically a one-man show, Charles racked up almost 2,000 combined yards and 19 total touchdowns last season.
