There have not necessarily been concrete rumors linking the Las Vegas Raiders to a trade of All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams.
However, signs have popped up that Adams is not happy with the direction of the organization and could soon ask out after less than two full seasons in Vegas.
Following an ugly Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Adams displayed his frustration over the struggles the Raiders have had with him in the mix since the start of last season.
“I don’t want to act like it’s all crazy. It’s Week 3, but I don’t got time to wait around. It’s not a personal thing; I mean it is a personal thing but it ain’t just about me. It’s not my mentality to take all season to try and figure it out,” Davante Adams said in late September.
We are now hearing more about this courtesy of ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The NFL insider notes that Adams intended to be a long-term fixture with the Raiders after working out a trade from the Green Bay Packers ahead of the 2022 season. That has not changed since despite Vegas’ on-field struggles and off-field drama since he joined the organization.
- Davante Adams contract: 5 years, $140 million
The contract Adams signed with Las Vegas back in the spring of 2022 runs through the 2026 campaign. Financially, it never really made sense for the Raiders to move off their best player. Doing so ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline would result in a resounding $54 million dead cap hit. In fact, it’s not logical for Vegas to move Adams from a financial perspective until after next season ($15.7 million dead cap hit).

Davante Adams trade rumors and Las Vegas Raiders drama

This new information comes amid major struggles on the Raiders’ part. They have lost three consecutive games since opening the season with a win over the Denver Broncos. All said, Vegas boasts a 7-14 record since Adams joined the team.
Despite this, the six-time Pro Bowler continues to excel from a micro level. He’s recorded 33 receptions for 397 yards and three touchdowns in four games this season.
Adams also hauled in a whopping 100 passes for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns in his first season with the Raiders.
There is an expectation that Vegas will look to blow this whole thing up ahead of the trade deadline. However, that is more likely to include a trade of disgruntled running back Josh Jacobs and former Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow. It just doesn’t make sense to move Adams, especially if he’s not pushing for it behind the scenes. At this point, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
