Kam Chancellor’s contract dispute with the Seattle Seahawks is so bad that some of his teammates are bracing to play without him for the entire 2015 NFL season, according to a report.

ESPN’s Ed Werder relayed this news, reporting some Seahawks player don’t expect Chancellor to be a member of the team this upcoming season.

“I don’t think we’re going to have him at all this season,” one unnamed Seahawk told Werder (via Pro Football Talk).

The three-time Pro Bowler signed a contract extension two years ago, and he’s currently in the third year of a five-year deal. He’s set to make $4.55 million this year, and if he misses any games then he’ll miss out on $267,647 per week.

That’s a lot of money to just leave on the table.

Because of the rift between player and franchise, there have been trade rumors surrounding Chancellor this summer. The New York Giants have reportedly been trying to land the safety, but head coach Pete Carroll shot down the idea the Seahawks were entertaining any offers.

If Chancellor does indeed continue his holdout through the 2015 season, then there is no doubt Seattle will miss him on the back end of its defense. He is one of the most feared safeties in the league and is a core member of the “Legion of Boom.”
