Report: Giants discussing trade for disgruntled Seahawks S Kam Chancellor

Kam Chancellor

The New York Giants are reportedly in discussions with the Seattle Seahawks regarding a potential trade for safety Kam Chancellor.

Chancellor has been holding out this summer and has yet to report to the team. He is dissatisfied with his current contract, which would pay him $4.55 million this season, and wants to be paid like a top safety. To this point, Seattle hasn’t blinked and has been willing to let Chancellor sulk at home.

Now, we’re hearing the Giants are making a move to try and acquire the dynamic safety, who hits like a linebacker and who has the speed to cover the league’s top tight ends in space.

This rumor comes by way of Shaun Morash of CBS radio, who does note the two sides are far apart on any potential deal.

Chancellor is entering his sixth NFL season. He is one of the league’s hardest-hitting safeties and has racked up 312 tackles in his career.

The Giants have a desperate need for safety help and would be positively giddy to somehow work out a deal for the three-time Pro Bowler. However, the chances of this deal actually going through would appear minimal at this time.
