At this point, we have absolutely no idea when Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will return to the football field.
Luck has not suited up for a game since New Year’s Day and underwent shoulder surgery on a torn labrum later that month.
While Indianapolis anticipated Luck to return early this season, that neve came to fruition. He suffered a setback while throwing on the side back in November and was promptly placed on injured reserve.
One that happened, Luck headed to Europe for treatment on his ailing shoulder. Now, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, there might be further surgery in Luck’s future if said treatment didn’t alleviate the pain.
“Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck’s treatment and rehab of his surgically repaired shoulder apparently is going well, but when he resumes throwing in the near future will determine whether he needs corrective surgery in January to address the setbacks that unexpectedly sidelined him for the 2017 season,” Mortensen reported.
The positive sign here is that treatment and rehab is said to be going good. But Luck has yet to resume throwing. If there’s still an issue at that point, he could undergo surgery again in January.
With Luck sidelined this season, Indianapolis boasts a 3-11 record and is one of the worst teams in the NFL. Depending on what happens with Luck, the team might be forced to either trade or draft a potential starting quarterback.
As for Luck, there’s surely some concern that he’ll never be the same again. Let’s all hope that’s not the case.
