Report: Andrew Luck seeking treatment for shoulder in Europe

Andrew Luck

After suffering a setback to his throwing shoulder and being placed on IR by the Indianapolis Colts, Andrew Luck is reportedly seeking medical treatment in Europe. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Mike Wells reported this news on Saturday.

While the report did not indicate what type of treatment Luck is seeking, we do know Europe has more relaxed laws about what is medically available. Former NBA star Kobe Bryant and others have headed to Europe to receive platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, which is unavailable in the United States.

Luck had surgery on his throwing shoulder in January to repair damage that was originally suffered early in the 2015 NFL season. Originally, he was expected to be healthy enough to return for training camp. That didn’t happen, however the team continued to say Luck was healing well and would play in 2017 when he was healthy.

Finally the quarterback got onto the practice field back on October 4 and was videotaped throwing very light passes. He ended up suffering a setback, however, and is out for the rest of the year.
