Report: Quenton Nelson fined over $26K after Colts promoted pancake block on Twitter

Indianapolis Colts left guard Quenton Nelson is doing big things during his rookie season.

After last Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he became a short-term Internet sensation when the team shared a video of him absolutely laying out safety Barry Church while screaming his head off.

Apparently, the attention that video received also clued the NFL into what was a helmet-to-helmet blow on the play. And now, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s led to a fine of $26,739 for the rookie, who’ll appeal.

If we’re being honest here, Nelson’s hit was clearly of the helmet-to-helmet variety. He dipped his head at the last second and used his helmet as a weapon to put Church on his backside in as forceful a manner as possible.
