Report: Peyton Manning is Ready to Play in 2015

Earlier today we referenced a report that indicated Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning met with the team’s brass to discuss his future in the National Football League.

Specifics regarding that meeting are now starting to surface.

According to ESPN insider Chris Mortensen, Manning told Broncos CEO Joe Ellis and general manager John Elway that he’s ready to go for the upcoming 2015 season.

Per the report…

Peyton Manning reassured Denver Broncos officials, including general manager John Elway, that he is physically and mentally prepared to play at a significant level in 2015, league and team sources told ESPN.

Mortensen also went on to indicate that both sides hope to have the situation resolved at some point next week, though there’s no concrete timetable for a resolution.

Rumors started towards the end of the season that Manning may decide to call it quits. These rumors were only magnified when Manning and the Broncos struggled late in the year and lost in the AFC Divisional Playoffs to the Indianapolis Colts.

Manning has been working with performance and longevity coach Mackie Shilstone since Denver’s season came to an abrupt end last month. If nothing else, that was a sign that the future Hall of Famer was preparing to return in 2015.

Manning also must pass a physical this offseason in order to be cleared to play. Considering his history of neck surgeries, it’s definitely not a given Manning will be cleared.
