The 2023 NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching. We’ve already seen one big move in the week leading up to the Halloween deadline with the Philadelphia Eagles pulling off a trade for two-time All-Pro safety Kevin Byard and the Seattle Seahawks adding a Pro Bowl defensive lineman.
The expectation is that we will see more major moves before all is said and done here soon. Teams who are out of contention will look to acquire draft assets for players who don’t fit into their long-term plans.
On the other hand, contending teams are looking at their rosters and checking in on what type of upgrades could be available on the trade market. Here, we look at all 32 teams and what we’re hearing leading up to the 2023 NFL trade deadline on Tuesday.

Arizona Cardinals: Budda Baker, Marquise Brown all of the talk
Arizona sits at 1-7 on the season and is preparing more for Kyler Murray’s return to action and the 2024 NFL Draft more than anything else. The team is in the initial stages of a rebuild.
Most of the talk leading up to Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline has surrounded safety Budda Baker and wide receiver Marquise Brown. In particular, the 26-year-old Brown is garnering a ton of interest. Though, Arizona has pushed back against the idea of moving him with the belief that he’s part of their core for the future.
Atlanta Falcons: Surprise team that could buy at the NFL trade deadline
Atlanta surprisingly sits at first place in the NFC South with a 4-4 record despite Sunday’s loss to the Tennessee Titans. While the team has not looked like playoff material, there is no reason to believe that it will be sellers ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
Perhaps, general manager Terry Fontenot looks to buy. Pass rush is a need with Atlanta having recorded 15 sacks in seven games. The season-ending injury star defensive lineman Grady Jarrett suffered in Week 8 adds another layer to this. It remains to be seen if the minor trade for veteran Kentavius Street with the Philadelphia Eagles is the end of Atlanta’s activity.
Baltimore Ravens: Backfield help for Lamar Jackson?
A recent report suggests that the 6-2 Ravens could very well look to find help for NFL MVP candidate Lamar Jackson ahead of the deadline. In particular, the team has been linked to former rushing champion Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans.
It likely wouldn’t take more than a Day 2 pick and change to pry Henry away from a Titans team that’s going to be in fire sale mode. With J.K. Dobbins sidelined for the season due to an Achilles’ injury, this has become a need for GM Eric DeCosta and Co. Unfortunately, a certain contract deadline relating to Henry passed on Monday. This makes a trade much less likely.
Buffalo Bills: Recent move suggests active NFL trade deadline
Buffalo just recently restructured the contract of left tackle Dion Dawkins, saving $3.9 million in cap space. Doing something of that ilk leading directly up to the deadline seems to suggest that something could be in the cards.
Buffalo was linked to running backs throughout the entire offseason. However, the signing of Leonard Fournett changes the dynamics some. More recently, the Bills have been linked to an upgrade at cornerback with star Tre’Davious White sidelined for the entire season.
Carolina Panthers: Will they pull off a Brian Burns trade?
The recent injury to star safety Jeremy Chinn (injured reserve) takes him off the NFL trade block leading up to Tuesday. Even then, we continue to hear rumors about Pro Bowl pass rusher and impending free agent Brian Burns being moved.
Carolina turned down an offer of two first-round picks and change from the Rams for Burns ahead of last season’s NFL trade deadline. The asking price this time around seems to be much lower, leading to the belief that the one-win team could trade him. However, moving off cornerback Donte Jackson and potentially wide receiver Adam Thielen seems to be more likely than pulling off a Burns blockbuster.
Chicago Bears: Few players potentially available ahead of NFL trade deadline
Chicago is already slated to have two of the top-five picks in the 2024 NFL Draft after the blockbuster trade with Carolina this past spring. We wouldn’t put it past general manager Ryan Poles from looking to acquire more draft capital as the Bears’ rebuild continues.
Names to watch here include wide receiver Darnell Mooney, offensive lineman Teven Jenkins and cornerback Jaylon Johnson. Each will receive a varying amount of interest on the trade block with Johnson being the best chip. Johnson is being linked to both the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys leading up to the NFL trade deadline.

Cincinnati Bengals: Looking at two specific positions
After a slow start to the season due to quarterback Joe Burrow’s injury, Cincinnati finds itself in the midst of the AFC Playoff race heading into Week 9 after a win over the San Francisco 49ers this past Sunday. The team could now very well be active on the trade front.
According to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, tight end and a third-down back could be possibilities for Cincinnati. Tyler Higbee of the Rams could fill that former need while Antonio Gibson makes sense as a third-down option.

Cleveland Browns: Buyers and sellers at the NFL trade deadline?
Despite the injury issues relating to Deshaun Watson, Cleveland finds itself at a surprising 4-3 on the season. It has led to speculation that general manager Andrew Berry could have a move up his sleeve.
The Browns are said to be looking for help at wide receiver and on the offensive line. Even after trading for Elijah Moore this past offseason, wide receiver is a need.
Dallas Cowboys: Mixed signals from owner Jerry Jones
Jones made it clear leading up to the NFL trade deadline that the ‘Boys are not going to be making calls to other teams. But they will listen should the phone ring in Big D.
Our Jean-Jacques Taylor detailed the Cowboys’ deadline plans and implored them to be active. Dallas sits at 4-2 on the season. It could use help at wide receiver, tight end, linebacker and in the defensive backfield. Just don’t expect a blockbuster.
Denver Broncos: Willing to listen to offers for entire 53-man roster
First-year head coach Sean Payton is now acting as the Broncos’ de facto general manager. It’s in this that everyone on the Broncos’ roster seems to be available ahead of the deadline outside of quarterback Russell Wilson (contract isn’t tradable).
Wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton are the names that have been bandied about the most. But it seems more likely that left tackle Garett Bolles will join safeties Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson in being available. Meanwhile, teams are calling Denver about All-Pro third-year cornerback Patrick Surtain II. Good luck with that. We’re also not sure if Denver’s deadline plans have changed after its upset win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8.
Detroit Lions: NFL trade deadline move to strengthen Super Bowl odds?
Despite boasting a 5-2 record, the Lions can’t be feeling great about themselves following an ugly 38-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7. Meanwhile, veteran wide receiver Marvin Jones was released after he left the team for personal reasons.
This seems to suggest that Detroit could be looking for another wide receiver to help out Jared Goff. We really like DeAndre Hopkins as a potential fit for Detroit. He’s played well in Tennessee this season (31 receptions, 504 yards).
Green Bay Packers: Ho-hum on the Packers’ front
Packers fans really shouldn’t be surprised. GM Brian Gutekunst has rarely done much to add talent via the trade market during his tenure in Green Bay. The Packers are also 2-5 on the season and seemingly going nowhere fast.
Green Bay could look to add a running back after showing interest in Jonathan Taylor. It could also trade off veteran assets, such as cornerback Rasul Douglas. We’re just not buying it.
Houston Texans: Minor move for surprising team?
At 3-4 on the season and with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud playing stellar football, it would not be a surprise to see the Texans make a minor move ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
“If there’s something externally we think could have an impact we’ll look into that,” GM Nick Caserio said ahead of the deadline. Getting Stroud more help in the backfield could make sense, especially with Dameon Pierce averaging just 2.9 yards per rush on the season. Josh Jacobs seems to be a nice fit. Houston has also called up other teams about edge pass rush help.
Indianapolis Colts: Stuck between contention and irrelevance
With rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson lost for the season, the Colts are stuck. They sit at 3-5 on the season and are relying on veteran signal caller Gardner Minshew to do his thing.
Indianapolis’ activity on the trade front could depend what other teams are offering up. Veterans such as tight end Mo Alie-Cox, cornerback Kenny Moore and safety Julian Blackmon could be available.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Could use a boost on defense
At 6-2 on the season and winners of five consecutive, the time is now for Jacksonville to be aggressive. General manager Trent Baalke has also proven that he’s not afraid to make a deal.
One area of concern could be at cornerback with Tyson Campbell injured. It wouldn’t necessarily be a surprise if the team went after someone like Kendall Fuller of the Washington Commanders or Carolina Panthers starter Donte Jackson.
Kansas City Chiefs: Brett Veach should work his magic
The acquisitions of Frank Clark and Orlando Brown Jr. in recent years tell us a story of a GM in Veach who is always active on the trade front. Despite the Super Bowl champions entering Week 8 on a six-game winning streak, it fell to the Denver Broncos in humiliating fashion on Sunday.
Derrick Henry has always made sense as a running partner for Patrick Mahomes in the backfield. It also wouldn’t be a surprise if Kansas City targeted another EDGE rusher to go with youngster George Karlaftis III. The pie-in-the-sky target would be Brian Burns of the Carolina Panthers.
Las Vegas Raiders: Teetering between buying and selling
It’s crazy to look at. The Raiders have not been buyers at the NFL trade deadline since acquiring Carson Palmer from the Cincinnati Bengals all the way back in 2011. Rumors have pointed in the direction of Vegas trading former Pro Bowler Hunter Renfrow. In fact, the wide receiver and organization have come to the conclusion that this is the best end result.
At 3-4, everything seems to be up in the air. If the Raiders were to lose Monday night to Detroit, running back Josh Jacobs could be made available. But don’t look for anything to happen here until said game takes place.
Los Angeles Chargers: Austin Ekeler trade, anyone?
The disappointing Los Angeles Chargers find themselves at 3-4 on the season and teetering on the brink of irrelevance heading into Week 9. It could lead to Los Angeles’ brass to not only rethink head coach Brandon Staley’s job security, but also move on from a few impending free agents.
Among those, Austin Ekeler is slated to become a free agent and had a contract rift with the Chargers this past offseason. The dual-threat back (107 receptions in 2022) would draw a ton of interest ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Los Angeles Rams: Surprisingly inactive NFL trade deadline expected
Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic spoke to those within the Rams’ organization and came away with the belief that Los Angeles will be inactive ahead of the deadline. It’s somewhat surprising given GM Les Snead’s wheeling and dealing mentality.
Though, the Rams have surprised skeptics with a 3-5 record thus far. They also don’t have any real valuable trade chips outside of future Hall of Fame defensive tackle Aaron Donald. It seems highly unlikely that the team would move its franchise stalwart in-season. That’s a conversation for the offseason.

Miami Dolphins: There is a move to be had
The injury left guard Isaiah Wynn suffered in Week 7’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles could very well lead to Miami making a move at that position ahead of the NFL trade deadline. He’s on injured reserve and out at least the next four games.
The 6-2 Dolphins have made it a priority to protect quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (nine sacks in seven games) after the concussion issues he dealt with last season. It could lead Miami to call up the Minnesota Vikings (Ezra Cleveland) or Carolina Panthers (Austin Corbett) about an under-the-radar acquisition at guard.
Minnesota Vikings: Mixed bag heading into NFL trade deadline
We’ve heard rumors all season that the Vikings could sell off ahead of the deadline. When they started 0-3, these rumors took off. They surrounded quarterback Kirk Cousins and star edge rusher Danielle Hunter. Now at 4-4, things have changed dramatically.
Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending torn Achilles on Sunday. Minnesota could target a potential replacement at quarterback. Meanwhile, recent reports indicate that it would take a massive offer to pry Hunter from Minnesota ahead of Tuesday afternoon. He leads the NFL in sacks with 10.
New England Patriots: Bill Belichick and Co. are sellers
At 2-5, the Pats are unlikely to pull off a fire sale. However, there is every reason to believe that they will be sellers. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated pointed to EDGE rusher Josh Uche, safety Kyle Dugger and guard Mike Onwenu. The season-ending torn ACL Kendrick Bourne suffered on Sunday changes the dynamics some as it rleates to New England’s NFL trade deadline plans.
New Orleans Saints: All quiet in the Bayou
As with a few other teams, the Saints have no idea in what direction they should go ahead of the NFL trade deadline. They sit at 4-4 on the season, but are tied with the Atlanta Falcons heading into the deadline.
The expectation is that things will be quiet here. But that could change given Mickey Loomis’ status as the Saints’ chief decision maker. He’s always looking to change things up when it’s not working.
New York Giants: More moves after Leonard Williams trade?
The Giants’ decision to trade star defensive lineman Leonard Williams to the Seattle Seahawks could set up an active NFL trade deadline for the 2-6 team.
The likes of wide receiver Parris Campbell, cornerback Adoree Jackson and safety Xavier McKinney have been bandied about. While highly unlikely, running back Saquon Barkley will also pop up in rumors over the next several hours.
New York Jets: Buying and selling?
First off, free-agent signing Dalvin Cook is not happy about his role in the backfield with New York. He’s frustrated and seems to welcome a trade. The former Pro Bowler is averaging just 2.8 yards per rush this season. The Jets also have fellow free-agent bust, EDGE rusher Carl Lawson, on the block. He’s recorded zero sacks in four games. Neither player will draw much attention.
The likelier scenario here is that New York looks to add with a fringe move. The team finds itself at 4-3 heading into Week 9. It’s clearly in playoff contention.
Philadelphia Eagles: Even more after Kevin Byard trade?
We know that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is among the most active at his position in the NFL. Even after acquiring Byard for pennies on the dollar (fifth-and-sixth-round picks in 2024), we wouldn’t put it past the defending NFC champs to make another move.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported after the aforementioned trade that Roseman is still calling up other teams. Wide receiver, linebacker and cornerback could all be needs for Philadelphia.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Finding the right mix ahead of NFL trade deadline
Newish Steelers general manager Omar Khan has been more active than the man who previously held the position, Kevin Colbert, in trades. Could that lead to a move before Oct. 31? Pittsburgh finds itself at a surprising 4-3 on the season despite some major struggles on offense.
If the Steelers do make a move, we expect it to be on that side of the ball. Najee Harris has been an inconsistent performer (313 rushing yards, 3.7 yards per carry). Perhaps, running back could be an area for Pittsburgh to target. Josh Jacobs and Derrick Henry come to mind.
San Francisco 49ers: Trading John Lynch likely to make splash move
It’s not a secret that Lynch has been among the most active in the NFL on the trade front since joining San Francisco’s front office. We’re not expecting that to change. “I think we’ve got a proven track record. We’re not afraid to be active,” Lynch told reporters ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
In the midst of a three-game losing streak after winning five straight to start the season, defense will be a focal point. That includes EDGE rusher even after acquiring Randy Gregory earlier in October. Cornerback is also a need. Keep an eye on Chase Young and Jaylon Johnson as options.

Seattle Seahawks: Blockbuster trade
General manager John Schneider surprised the masses one day before the NFL trade deadline, acquiring Pro Bowl defensive lineman Leonard Williams from the New York Giants. There weren’t a lot of rumors relating to Seattle heading into. But now that the team is 5-2 and in first place in the NFC East, it made sense to make a splash move. Whether the Seahawks add more players in the coming hours remains to be seen.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Potential Mike Evans trade?
Tampa Bay’s loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football has the team at 3-4 on the season. With Evens likely playing out the final year of his career in Tampa Bay, NFL trade rumors have long pointed to a trade before Oct. 31.
With that said, everything seems to be up in the air here. The Bucs are just one half game back in the pedestrian NFC South. Would the team actually move its future Hall of Famer while in the midst of a division race? We’re not too sure.
Tennessee Titans: Fire sale in Nashville ahead of NFL trade deadline
It’s official. The Titans are listening to pretty much everyone on their roster after trading away Kevin Byard. It’s no surprise with the 2-4 team going nowhere fast and needing to initiate what promises to be a long-term rebuild.
Running back Derrick Henry joins wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins as two big names on the trade block. Lesser-known individuals such as guard Daniel Brunskill, EDGE players Denico Autry, Harold Landry and Arden Key as well as cornerback Kristian Fulton could be on the move.
Washington Commanders: Chase Young, Montez Sweat among those available
As with Tennessee, the Commanders are willing to listen to everyone on their roster after more struggles under Ron Rivera to open the 2023 season. Young and Sweat — both impending free agents — are among those talked about the most. Washington is said to be demanding a second or third-round pick for each.
Washington also has the likes of running back Antonio Gibson, wide receiver Curtis Samuel, tight end Logan Thomas and cornerback Kendall Fuller who could be of interest to other teams before Tuesday.
