Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers reportedly eyeing trade market for offensive weapon

NFL trade rumors are swirling in October with wide receivers Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and Davante Adams among those generating buzz. For teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers, there are plenty of pass-catching options available on the trade market.

While Green Bay has one of the youngest receiving corps in the NFL, it lacks proven players who excel at route-running and being exactly where they’re supposed to be on the field. Meanwhile, teams like the Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts are just looking for more offensive weapons to boost struggling offenses.

The likes of Adams and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson are not expected to be moved by the NFL trade deadline on Oct. 31. However, there are plenty of NFL teams exploring alternatives on the market.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Packers, Chiefs, Colts and Carolina Panthers are all keeping a close eye on the trade market for wide receivers. Among the players potentially available are Jeudy, Las Vegas Raiders wideout Hunter Renfrow, Panthers’ disgruntled receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. and New York Giants pass-catcher Parris Campbell.

Carolina has been in the market for a starting-caliber wide receiver since September. While Adam Thielen is producing, he isn’t much of a big-play threat and the Panthers’ coaching staff knows Bryce Young needs far more support. However, the front office also doesn’t have many draft picks to offer around the league because of the offseason trade to land Young.

As for Green Bay, it likes what Christian Watson can do long-term and Romeo Doubs has been a go-to target for Jordan Love. However, both players are still early into their careers and frequent mistakes on the field are playing a role in a stagnant offense.

Kansas City already added some help to its receiving corps, bringing back Mecole Hardman. While Indianapolis has already lost Anthony Richardson for the season, it would still like to round out its offense with more weapons to at least stay competitive this season.

Jeudy and Renfrow are the likeliest wide receivers to be moved by the NFL trade deadline, but it remains possible a few others get shipped off in the days to come. With so much competition for wide receivers, it could be a more favorable market for sellers than expected.
