According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, New York Yankees rookie Masahiro Tanaka has a small UCL tear in his throwing elbow and will be out about six weeks.

Tanaka was placed on the 15-day DL earlier in the week, but will now be out for quite a bit longer.
The Yankees’ ace is 12-4 with a 2.51 ERA on the season. He boasts a 7.11 SO/K ratio and 1.00 WHIP in what has been one of the better seasons for a rookie pitcher in the recent history of the league.
Fortunately for the Yankees, they are currently only three games back in what has been a mediocre AL East.
