New Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James’ contract is apparently for two years and just over $42 million. He also has an out in the contract that enables him to become a free agent next summer.

That’s a lot less of a commitment from James than we expected when it was announced that he would return to Cleveland on Friday. Sportscenter, which just reported this news, indicates that the max-level NBA deal is expected to increase a great deal following the 2016-2017 season with a new television deal. That’s likely the primary reason that LeBron chose a shorter-term deal.
