With his team attempting a game-winning drive against the Indianapolis Colts at home on Thursday night, Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins made what can be considered a pathetic attempt to recover a fumble after quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick put the ball on the turf.
Just check the play out below. Hopkins comes in from the bottom of the screen with a half-hearted attempt at recovering the fumble.
By virtue of some amazing play by Arian Foster and J.J. Watt, Houston nearly came all the way back from a 24-0 first quarter deficit against the Indianapolis Colts. After forcing a Colts’ punt just outside the two-minute warning, Houston took over with a chance for a game-winning touchdown-scoring drive.
Unfortunately, it really does look like Hopkins made nearly no effort to recover a fumble that eventually wrapped the game up in Indianapolis’ favor.
Whether he was worried about getting injured or didn’t realize that a fumble had actually happened, this just isn’t acceptable. Hopkins, who recorded just one catch in the 33-28 loss, really did cost his team a chance to win the game.
