Times When We Realized There Was Crying in Baseball

Tom Hanks said it himself: “There is no crying in baseball.” But I disagree with that statement. Here are some of the best moments in America’s Favorite Pastime that make it alright to ask for an extra tissue.

Bat Kid

This little pint size boy of awesomeness stole our hearts when San Francisco turned into the City of Gotham and Bat Kid saved the day. Matt Cain escorted Miles Scott onto the mound at AT&T Park to throw out the first pitch, and we melted.

Yasiel Puig, With Puppies.

It’s no secret Yasiel Puig has taken over the baseball world (whether you like him or not) but you combine that with a handful of fluffy puppies…and it’s game over.

Daddy’s the Best Catcher

Alayna Adams threw out the first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays game, then the catcher removed his mask. The catcher was her father, who had just returned from Afghanistan. If you didn’t tear up, I don’t think you have a heart.

Nick’s First Pitch

Just watch, this is absolutely amazing.

What a powerful picture. Three legends in pinstripes supporting one another. Mariano Rivera retired last season, and most of us are still in disbelief. If you weren’t tearing up, you definitely had chills.

Lou Gehrig’s Farewell Speech

Lou Gehrig himself cried, and we all still do to this day.

Field of Dreams

“I’d like that.” I don’t know about you, but I’ve never fully recovered from this moment in baseball movie history.

Thanks in huge part to Justin Verlander. Not like you had a chance in the first place, but a man can dream.
