Brandin Cooks says Randy Moss could play Sunday and get 100 receiving yards

If Randy Moss actually decided to attempt an NFL comeback, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks would support the Hall of Famer.

During an interview on The Jim Rome Show, Cooks shared he believes Moss still has the talent to eclipse the century mark right now. Cooks said of Moss:

“He could step on the field today, this Sunday, and I bet you he could probably go for a 100 yards.”

A few weeks back, Moss—who now works as an analyst for Fox Sports—hinted at a comeback during a pregame show. Moss cited “the love of the game that I still have inside of me.”

While the odds of that actually happening are admittedly slim, it appears Moss is physically capable. Per the report, Cooks worked out with Moss over the summer, but the 38-year-old wasn’t simply advising the budding star from the sideline. Cooks said:

“He was running with us. It’s not like he was just out there coaching. He was actually running the conditioning, running the routes, and he still looked smooth.”

Although betting on a Moss comeback is likely a futile endeavor, doubling down on Cooks isn’t such a bad idea. The second-year wideout has earned a place as the No. 1 option for Drew Brees and the Saints. After quite literally training alongside a legend, though, that probably shouldn’t be much of a surprise.

Perhaps Moss can make a special appearance at the Pro Bowl and run a route next to his protégé, because Cooks has the talent to earn a spot in Hawaii after the 2015 season.
