Nearly a Quarter Century Later, Bengals Still Looking For That Elusive Playoff Win

The very last point ever scored in a Cincinnati Bengals playoff win was back on January 6, 1991. The point was made by former kicker Jim Breech in a 41-14 win over the Houston Oilers.

At that time, Breech was 34-years-old. Now, 24 years later, Breech is just 15 months away from being 60. Sadly, the Bengals 24-year-old drought is marked by this milestone. Since then, they have gone 0-5, including 0-3 with Andy Dalton under center.

The only team to go longer without a playoff victory was the New Orleans Saints, who remained winless in the postseason for 33 years until beating the Rams in a wild card game back in 2000.

Cincinnati shouldn’t feel alone here. The Detroit Lions haven’t won a playoff game since January 5, 1992 when they beat the Dallas Cowboys.

Dalton will have his work cut out for him as he tries to end the team’s winless playoff drought of a near quarter century, especially with star receiver A.J. Green unlikely to play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
