Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alec Martinez is expected to sign a three-year contract worth approximately $15 million, multiple media outlets reported Monday.

Martinez, who turned 34 on Monday, led the NHL in blocked shots (168) last season.

He recorded 32 points (nine goals, 23 assists) in 53 games with the Golden Knights last season. He added six more (four goals, two assists) in 19 playoff games despite reportedly playing on a broken foot.

Martinez has collected 238 points (73 goals, 165 assists) in 660 career games with the Los Angeles Kings and Golden Knights.

He was part of the Kings’ 2012 and 2014 Stanley Cup championship teams.

Martinez is best known for beating then-New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist with an iconic double-overtime goal in Game 5 of the 2014 Stanley Cup Final.
