As the world deals with the coronavirus pandemic with pro sports suspended, many are stepping up to help their fellow people during a time of need.
On Friday, New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson made the incredible announcement that he will cover the salaries for all of the Pelicans’ arena staff workers for the next 30 days during the NBA’s indefinite suspension.
While many have talked about how players and teams are impacted by the NBA shutting down indefinitely due to the coronavirus, workers in the stadium are hurt even more by it.
Many stadium employees rely on the paychecks they receive for their incredible work to make the fans’ experience enjoyable. Now with the NBA season suspended indefinitely, those same employees are now without the paychecks they rely upon.
Fortunately, players like Williamson, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Cleveland Cavaliers star Kevin Love are stepping up with incredible generations to help these people.
During a time of so much uncertainty and even fear, it’s great to see many stepping up to help those who are less fortunate. Let’s hope more NBA owners join in Mark Cuban’s footsteps and look to help out their employees.
