A week after the New England Patriots placed receiver Josh Gordon on injured reserve, the team is now reportedly releasing him on Thursday with an injury settlement.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Patriots released Gordon from injured reserve and he will now be subject to waivers.
Before being sidelined with a minor knee injury, Gordon hauled in 20 receptions for 287 yards and a touchdown across six contests this season. While the 28-year-old hasn’t shown his usual explosiveness, he’s still expected to draw interest from multiple teams.
The Miami Dolphins currently hold the No. 1 waiver claim and the Cincinnati Dolphins are right behind them. Wherever Gordon ends up, he should be medically cleared to play soon.
