San Francisco 49ers all-time great wide receiver Jerry Rice is now recruiting one of the game’s best pass catchers to Santa Clara.
With rumors circulating that the 49ers will be interested in disgruntled Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, Rice is out here endorsing the idea of San Francisco trading for him.
“If you got a player like that (Brown), that you can get,” Rice said this week, via 95.7 The Game in the Bay Area. “That can really add to the offense of the San Francisco 49ers where you let those guys go play, I think you have to go for it.”
Brown himself created a firestorm by linking himself to the 49ers on social media just recently.
Coming off a drama-filled season in which he was benched for Week 17 and had a spat with Ben Roethlisberger, it’s been noted that Pittsburgh will look to trade Brown. If so, there’s absolutely no reason to believe the 49ers wouldn’t be interested.
Brown, 30, has put up 686 receptions for 9,145 yards over the past six seasons alone — numbers that would rank second in 49ers franchise history behind only Rice.
