The Orlando Magic will probably engage in trade discussions involving Evan Fournier before Thursday’s deadline, but please don’t disturb the shooting guard until he’s taken a mid-day snooze.
According to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Fournier said the possibility of being traded will not affect his game-day nap.
“We have a game tonight, so it’s a regular day. The trade deadline is during the nap. So I’m going to take my nap, and when I wake up, I wake up. We’ll see what happens.”
Fournier is averaging a career-best 17.8 points while shooting 38.7 percent from three-point range, so teams in need of offensive firepower should pursue him. Granted, the 25-year-old is worth $17 million per season through 2020-21, so he won’t be cheap.
If Orlando trades Fournier, he won’t be playing Thursday anyway. Should the Magic not find a suitable trade, though, they run the risk of disrupting his game-day routine, and that’s just inconsiderate.
Let the man sleep. His nap supersedes news at the trade deadline.
