We can now expect veteran cornerback Tramaine Brock to draw a ton of interest in free agency with preseason itself kicking off this week.

Brock was released by the San Francisco 49ers over the spring after he was charged with domestic violence following an alleged incident surrounding his girlfriend back in April.

San Francisco’s decision to move on swiftly from Brock was met with enthusiasm from the fan base, especially after all the off-field issues the team has seen in recent years.

But now, it looks like Brock will be making his way back on an NFL field.

According to Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee, all charges against Brock have been dropped.

“Brock’s attorney, San Carlos-based Josh Bentley, wrote in a text that the entire case was dismissed during a preliminary examination hearing Tuesday afternoon,” Barrows reported. “The district attorney’s office said that Brock’s former girlfriend declined to cooperate.”

Brock, 28, started all 31 games in which he appeared for the 49ers over the past two seasons. During that span, the former undrafted free agent recorded 111 tackles, 25 passes defended, four interceptions and a forced fumble.

Immediately after San Francisco released Brock, reports surfaced that he could earn $10-plus million on the open market should his off-field issues be settled (more on that here).

Despite being close to the start of the regular season, there will surely be interest in Brock’s services in free agency. It will be interesting to see what contending teams show the most interest. Though, we already know both the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys are in need of upgrades at cornerback.
