Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti covets draft picks more than any of his peers in the NBA. Following the latest trade, Oklahoma City now has a record number of draft picks in the next seven years.
On Saturday, Oklahoma City traded Patty Mills to the Atlanta Hawks for TyTy Washington Jr, Usman Garuba, Rudy Gay and a future second-round pick. The deal allowed Atlanta to create cap space, while the Thunder added to their massive arsenal of draft picks in the coming years.

As highlighted by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Thunder now have 35 draft picks in the next seven years. Of those 35 picks owned by Oklahoma City, 15 are first-round selections.
Presti has racked up multiple second-round picks this offseason. Before trading Mills to Atlanta, he acquired him from the Houston Rockets and also received Houston’s second-round picks in 2024, 2029 and 2030.
While the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks are viewed as two of the NBA teams best positioned to make a trade for a superstar in the coming years, because of their collection of future first-round picks, Oklahoma City has by far the most draft picks in the NBA.
