Tua Tagovailoa once again aggravates knee injury, replaced by Mac Jones

During the third quarter of Alabama’s game against Mississippi State, Tua Tagovailoa was wrapped up and dragged to the ground. His already injured right knee appeared to get tweaked a bit, but he stayed in the game.

Then a few plays later, he was once again pummeled by a Mississippi State lineman, and it was obvious he was in pain.

Upon reaching the sideline, he limped his way into the medical tent, which has of late become a routine he’d no doubt rather avoid. On Alabama’s next offensive possession, Tagovailoa was replaced by Mac Jones.

Heading into Alabama’s game on the road against LSU last weekend, Tagovailoa said his sprained knee was 100 percent healthy. But he clearly aggravated the injury last weekend, and then it was a problem again this Saturday. However, the team communicated the issue on Saturday was more of a quad injury than his sprained knee, so who knows exactly how banged up the knee really is?

At this point, his right knee/leg appears to be all that stands in the way of Alabama winning another title. But right now, it’s anything but a given he’ll be able to remain healthy the rest of the season.
