Prevailing over the best racers in the world on one of the most recognizable tracks in the world, Will Power finally won his first Indy 500 on Sunday.

Apparently, it’s been one of his greatest dreams for a long, long time, too.
Will Power has a picture of the Borg-Warner trophy on his bedside table he looks at every night before he goes to sleep.
He's wanted this for a long, long time.

The race was fraught with peril, as multiple crashes (including a bitter end for Danica Patrick) and even a fire on Pit Lane took place during the 102nd running of the Indy 500.
In the end, Power prevailed over his peers, with Ed Carpenter, who had the lead for much of the race, coming in second, Scott Dixon coming in third, Alexander Rossi finishing in fourth place and Ryan Hunter-Reay rounding out the top five.
Not surprisingly, Power was overcome with emotion after it was all over.

Here are some of the best Twitter reactions we saw in response to Will Power winning the Indy 500.
Power is among the best drivers of his generation. Right up there with Dixon and Helio and Bourdais. He deserved this win.

A man called "Will Power" pulled ahead late to win the Indy 500. Expect Nietzsche to rise from the grave anytime now to teach us The Superman.

As one of the few Will Power fans, I am elated. The win is probably about as popular as Patrick Reed at the Masters, though. His evolution as an oval racer has been remarkable. #Indy500

Growing up, the Indy 500 was appointment TV. The race has lost some luster, but today's finish was awesome. Good for will power.
