Nick Bosa has been in the NFL for five seasons, and yet he’s only played against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs twice. The first time came in 2019 during the San Francisco 49ers’ Super Bowl run, which ended in a tough 31-20 loss to the Chiefs. The next matchup didn’t happen until the 2022 regular season, when Bosa lost again, this time 44-23.
Both times Bosa has managed to sack Mahomes once per game, but obviously, the impact was not felt, as they resulted in a loss each time. Now, as Bosa prepares to face off against Andy Reid’s Chiefs for another Super Bowl matchup, we’re seeing the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year talk some trash about his upcoming opponent.

Nick Bosa trying to cause a stir ahead of Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl matchup
Trash talking is a big part of competitive sports, no matter what level you’re at. Inside, outside, in the pros, or just in the backyard, athletes love to try and get in their opponent’s heads. And sometimes, players try and get in the heads of the referees too.
Perhaps that was Nick Bosa’s mindset when he spoke up about the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line ahead of their Super Bowl LVIII matchup.
First, Bosa said he’s seen the Chiefs’ offensive tackle tandem of Donovan Smith and Jawaan Taylor be called for a lot of penalties. And he’s right, Smith has had nine penalties called against him, and Taylor has committed an NFL-worst 20 penalties this season.
Yet, Bosa also said the two players essentially do this to themselves, thanks to poor technique.
“They hold a lot.”
Nick Bosa on Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive tackles
Meanwhile, 49ers CEO Jed York agrees. In fact, he still hasn’t let go of the fact that the 49ers lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.
Needless to say, there will be a lot of eyes on the Chiefs’ offensive tackles on Super Bowl Sunday, and chances are, Bosa made these comments to try and get the NFL refs’ attention ahead of the pivotal matchup. We’ll see if it pays off soon enough.
