You may be wondering why only twenty-eight teams are listed instead of the normal thirty-two for the National Football League (NFL) mascots list. This is because four teams do not have an “official” mascot — Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, New York Jets, and the Los Angeles Chargers. Though some avid fans dress up in convincing costumes, there are only twenty-eight mascots representing most of the teams in the NFL. If you are interested in seeing all of these NFL mascots ranked by appearance and likability, make sure to continue reading.

28. Major Tuddy, Washington Commanders
One of the newer mascots to be added to the NFL ring, I am not loving how Major Tuddy looks for the Washington Commanders. Besides the fact that the mascot of the whole team was changed from the Redskins to the Commanders, an insult to the Native American warriors that roamed these lands, I just think that Major Tuddy looks silly. The helmet pulled over the brim of his eyes and the bulging stomach just feels like a pig trying to play the fierce commander, and that’s exactly what the mascot is.

27. Raider Rusher, Las Vegas Raiders
The first iteration of Raider Rusher with the head almost as big as the person wearing it was freaky, and this new edition is not much better. The face is the part that creeps me out the most, with a stretched-out smile that probably freaks out children. I wish that the Raiders would create a mascot that could honor pirates, the real raiders of the world, as it could make for a better mascot. Well, definitely better than this.

26. Freddie Falcon, Atlanta Falcons
I don’t have a lot of qualms with Freddie Falcon except for his eyes. They look like they’ve seen some horrible stuff, and are perpetually terrified. I do like the feathers covering the whole body and even the beak looks good — it’s just the eyes. Looking at them for too long starts to creep me out.

25. Sir Saint, New Orleans Saints
Again, this mascot wouldn’t be terrible except for one part of the mascot, and in Sir Saint’s case it’s the chin. Why does it have to be so large? None of the other “human” mascots have accentuated features except for him, and it unfortunately lands him at the twenty-third spot on our NFL mascots list.

24. T-Rac, Tennessee Titans
I am so confused by this mascot. Why the Tennessee Titans would choose a raccoon as their mascot when they could make an incredible titan costume complete with a large sword or armor beats me. I would love a titan mascot that can hold up the world as the legends say, but instead, we get a raccoon that also has eyes that have seen something terrible. Yikes.

23. Who Dey, Cincinnati Bengals
Don’t get me wrong, I love the “Who Dey” aspect of the Bengals and their pride in their team. It’s admirable. The only misstep is making a mascot that looks like foam has been sprayed all along the face, obscuring the fierceness of the Bengal. Maybe if there was less white fur, or the hair was a little longer, the mascot wouldn’t look as out of place.

22. Pat the Patriot, New England Patriots
My dad’s favorite team, I just think they could have done more with this mascot. The large head is quite creepy, and there could have been more done with the traditional “patriot” garb from the 1700s. Similar to the men who come out in traditional clothing and shoot off guns, I think Pat would benefit from a more historical outfit.

21. KC Wolf, Kansas City Chiefs
Again with the weird (and slightly creepy) eyes, this time on KC Wolf the mascot of the Kansas City Chiefs. I’m also kind of confused with the choice of a wolf mascot instead of diving into the “Chiefs” part of the team, but this is a similar issue to the whole “Redskin” issue for Washington I’m sure. Anyway, I think KC would benefit from some better eyes to make his position on my list better.

20. Jaxson De Ville, Jacksonville Jaguars
I feel like Jaxson De Ville could be so much more if there were a few design changes to his mascot. I like the colors and the jaguar, but I think it could be fiercer to show the prowess of the Jacksonville Jaguars. But that being said it is not my least favorite mascot and thus earns its place as twentieth in my list.

19. Billy Buffalo, Buffalo Bills
I don’t have anything particular that I don’t like about Billy Buffalo, but as the Buffalo Bills are one of the rivals of the Dolphins in the AFC East, it inclines me to not like the team as much. I do think that Billy Buffalo could look a little more like a buffalo, but that’s a minor debate.

18. Captain Fear, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
There are two problems with Captain Fear from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for me. One of them is the large muscles that look fake, but that isn’t the mascot’s fault as they need to design a whole body suit for the person underneath. My other problem could be fixed, which is the face. Between the eyes and the chipmunk cheeks, I think they missed the mark on the fierceness of the buccaneers that sailed across the sea.

17. Rowdy, Dallas Cowboys
I think the Cowboys mascot Rowdy is pretty good, especially since it embodies the Cowboys of the West so well. I think the face is a little funky, but nothing to change, especially since almost all of the human mascots have “weirder” faces on this list. My favorite part about Rowdy is the large chunky chain he wears around his neck, a staple of every NFL team.

16. Poe, Baltimore Ravens
My favorite part about Poe is his name, as it references the famous author Edgar Allan Poe and his work titled “The Raven.” I don’t mind the raven’s smile and happy disposition, and I have seen several videos of him on social media. I just think there are some mascots that are a little better than Poe, and that’s why he earns the sixteenth spot.

15. Sir Purr, Carolina Panthers
I like the Carolina Panthers mascot Sir Purr. His smiling face and prominent whiskers make him a favorite amongst younger children, and I like how the colors of the Panthers team is present throughout the mascot, even in the gray of the whiskers to the blue of the eyes.

14. Miles, Denver Broncos
Miles from the Denver Broncos takes the fourteenth spot on our list with a smiling Bronco face, complete with his Broncos jersey, orange hair, and orange eyes. I think the mascot could look a little more like the logo of the Broncos, but that might be hard to create, so I am fine with the current mascot design of Miles.

13. Roary, Detroit Lions
I am half and half with Roary for the Detroit Lions. On one side I think the lion is done quite well, but since the logo is completely blue and silver, I kind of wish that Roary was as well. At any rate, I think that Roary deserves the thirteenth spot on our NFL mascots list.

12. Viktor, Minnesota Vikings
Next up and earning our twelfth spot is Viktor for the Minnesota Vikings. This is one of my favorite logo designs, especially since I love the history behind the Vikings. I think the mascot does well at capturing part of the Vikings history, but there are some historical discrepancies that hurt Viktor’s ranking, including the horned helmet which was rarely worn by Vikings during their time. They favored a rounded helmet instead. But other than that, I do enjoy Viktor’s personality.

11. Toro, Houston Texans
Swinging down from the roof into our eleventh spot is Toro from the Houston Texans. I like the design of Toro, and the sneakers on his feet make it a fun twist. I do wish that the Texan’s mascot reflected more of the “Texan” persona, but since we already have a cowboy and buffalo, I think a bull is quite suitable for Houston.

10. Rampage, Los Angeles Rams
I love this photo of Rampage, the mascot for the Los Angeles Rams. I think this is one of the better animal mascots in the NFL, especially since the ram looks fierce and docile at the same time. A favorite of children and die-hard fans, Rampage earns the tenth spot on my list.

9. Staley Da Bear, Chicago Bears
I’ve seen Staley Da Bear rated quite highly in other NFL mascot rankings, and I think it is a cool mascot as a whole. There are some weird choices concerning the face, such as the gaping mouth and the orange half-lidded eyes, but I think this mascot is fierce and approachable at the same time. Though the Bears haven’t been doing so well these past few years, I still think their mascot gets their team persona across.

8. Swoop, Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have been doing quite well these past few years, and there is nothing like the atmosphere in Philadelphia for their beloved football team. I wish the beak was closed for Swoop, their mascot, but I do like everything else from the puffy brown wings to the jersey Swoop is wearing.

7. Steely McBeam, Pittsburgh Steelers
The next two mascots are rated so highly partly for the fact that they represent the history of each of the cities where the NFL teams are based. First off is Steely McBeam for the Pittsburgh Steelers, holding both a terrible towel and a steel beam. This represents the numerous steel workers that helped build the bridges connecting Pittsburgh together, and the unwavering determination of Pittsburgh residents.

6. Sourdough Sam, San Francisco 49ers
Number six on our NFL mascot list is Sourdough Sam for the San Francisco 49ers. I like this mascot for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is the history that the mascot carries for the area where the team is based. San Francisco used to be a hotbed for gold, and it only makes sense that their mascot is a gold miner dressed up in his 49ers jersey.

5. Chomps, Cleveland Browns
A favorite with children, Chomps is a grinning dog that represents the Cleveland Browns. Wearing the traditional brown and orange uniform, I like most of this mascot including the face, which is in your face but in a good way.

4. Blitz, Seattle Seahawks
As a team, I wouldn’t say I like the Seahawks. But, they get some points back for their mascot, one of the best bird mascots in the NFL. I like how the design of the logo nearly matches the mascot’s design, and of course, the uniform needs to be on the bird.

3. Big Red, Arizona Cardinals
There are few designs that I like completely, as a mascot has a thin line where it goes from good to bad, but Big Red for the Arizona Cardinals is one of the good mascots. I love the simple cardinal design with the uniform, and this particular photo of Big Red holding a Little Red is especially cute.

2. T.D., Miami Dolphins
My favorite team, the Miami Dolphins, is of course going to be high on the list. The mascot, T.D. is known for doing pushups after each touchdown and nearly couldn’t complete the job when the Dolphins scored 70 points against the Broncos this season. His fun personality and 00 uniform place him at the number two spot on my list.

1. Blue, Indianapolis Colts
Number one on our list is of course Blue from the Indianapolis Colts. Even though this is not my favorite NFL team, there is something special about Blue’s character and his personality when interacting with fans that makes me laugh. His exaggerated hip thrusts and nose streamers really solidify him as our number one NFL mascot.
