After finishing with just a 3-14 record in Brian Callahan’s first season as head coach, the Tennessee Titans ‘earned’ the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. It comes at a unique time, when there is no consensus top prospect emerging as the obvious pick to be the first selection of the draft.
While there are undoubtedly talented prospects like Cam Ward, Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter, none have truly separated themselves from the pack. Yet, barring a trade, the Titans will eventually have to settle on someone.

Signs point to Tennessee Titans drafting Cam Ward

Travis Hunter is a rare talent. One might even describe him as a generational talent, due to his ability to play wide receiver and cornerback at a high level.
Pass-rusher Abdul Carter is a rare talent, too. Thanks to his history of playing linebacker, he draws comparisons to Micah Parsons, yet he is a far more effective edge rusher.
However, the Tennessee Titans still don’t have a franchise quarterback either, which could point to Cam Ward being the most valuable selection at No. 1. A mobile quarterback with a big arm, Ward may have the most boom or bust potential in the draft.
Recently, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler indicated that the Titans are, in fact, “pretty comfortable,” making Ward the first overall pick. After getting a chance to interview the University of Miami quarterback, “momentum” is building toward the Titans drafting Ward instead of making a trade.

Earlier, Josina Anderson reported that the Titans “would like to transition” away from the Will Levis era, and drafting Ward would be the perfect way to do so. Meanwhile, if the Titans are done with Levis, it likely wouldn’t be difficult to find a trade partner for the former second-round pick.
