The Chicago Cubs are reportedly targeting a blockbuster trade that could land them a young two-time All-Star from the American League.
This has already been a wild off-season for the Chicago Cubs. After coming up short in a late-season push for a National League Wild Card spot, the organization shocked many around MLB by hiring Craig Counsell to be their new manager before they even officially announced that David Ross was not returning to the team in 2024. However, that is just the first of the big changes that are expected to come.

Over the last few weeks, the organization has been linked to a slew of rumors for star players in the free agent and trade markets. Chicago is expected to be a serious player in the jam-packed Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes. They could be in on Juan Soto if he hits the trade block and will likely pursue several stud pitchers in this year’s class.
However, a new report suggests they could revisit a move they attempted to make last year that would land them one of the best young stars from the American League East.
Chicago Cubs pursuing trade for Toronto Blue Jays star Bo Bichette
On Tuesday, Chicago Cubs podcast reporter Matt Cozzi claimed “I’m hearing the Cubs have talked to the Blue Jays about Bo Bichette, who would play 3B for the Cubs.” Cozzi added that it is an idea that has been previously reported on and that MLB Network league insider Jon Morosi suggested was talked about by the two organizations last year.
After the Cubs signed Dansby Swanson to a massive contract last winter, Bichette would be moved from shortstop to third base if a deal were made. It is also unclear at this time what the Blue Jays would want in return for the two-time All-Star.

Bo Bichette had the third-best fielding percentage for shortstops in 2023. He also posted 20 home runs, 73 runs batted in, 69 runs, and a slash line of .306/.339/.475 in just 135 games this season after suffering a strained quadricep in August.
