Now that Julio Jones is off the market, Carolina Panthers star Robby Anderson becomes the top wide receiver potentially available in a trade.

Fresh off his first career 1,000-yard season, Anderson would be an attractive option for other teams looking to add an underrated pass-catcher to the mix. He’s been away from Panthers’ offseason activities as rumors about a potential trade continue to swirl.

Could the Green Bay Packers attempt to cater to disgruntled quarterback Aaron Rodgers by adding a receiver who caught 70% of his targets a season ago? Perhaps, the Cleveland Browns look to find Baker Mayfield another top-end target. Below, we look at four ideal Robby Anderson trade scenarios.

Robby Anderson trade to the Cleveland Browns

This one makes a ton of sense for both teams. Cleveland could use another receiver to team up with Odell Beckham Jr. and possession guy Jarvis Landry. Rashard Higgins has the inside shot at Cleveland’s No. 3 spot, but he’s failed to record as much as 600 yards in any of his five NFL seasons. It’s hard to imagine Higgins somehow upping his game too much. It also helps that Cleveland is an estimated $20.75 million under the cap right now.

As for the Panthers, there’s a chance that they look to take a chance on former Browns second-round pick Greedy Williams. Cornerback remains an issue in Carolina and Williams could fall down Cleveland’s depth chart following the selection of fellow cornerback Greg Newsome in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. If the Browns throw in a mid-round pick, this could work.

Robby Anderson trade to the Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis needs to find another capable receiver to go with T.Y. Hilton and young stud Michael Pittman Jr. It could also use a big slot guy like the 6-foot-3 Robby Anderson. Here’s a dude who caught 70% of his targets last season despite the poor play of Teddy Bridgewater under center in Carolina. Meanwhile, Carson Wentz has in the past relied a lot on slot guys.

The Colts are a bit limited in what they can give up after exhausting draft capital in a trade for the aforementioned Wentz. Perhaps, Indianapolis can offer up a third-round pick in 2022 and change to pry Anderson away from the Jets. It almost makes too much sense for general manager Chris Ballard and Co.

Robby Anderson trade to the Green Bay Packers

There was some thought given to the idea that Green Bay would make a play for Julio Jones in order to help fix its relationship with reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Obviously, that did not come to fruition. Is this something the Packers might be willing to do after creating a bit more cap room earlier in June? Possibly.

The idea would be to find a No. 2 receiver behind Davante Adams. Even after adding Amari Rodgers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, this remains a major need for the Packers. Will embattled general manager Brian Gutekunst finally pull off a win-now move to cater to Mr. Rodgers?

Robby Anderson trade to the Kansas City Chiefs

It’s pretty crazy how Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has been able to pull off blockbuster trades despite their salary cap situation. Heck, the two-time defending champs were linked to the aforementioned Julio Jones in passing. Pretty set up and down the roster, an upgrade over Demarcus Robinson in the slot could be one final move the Chiefs make for Patrick Mahomes.

However, there’s some financial issues at play here. Kansas City finds itself a mere $8.29 million under the cap. Robby Anderson is slated to count $8 million for an acquiring team. The good news? The Chiefs could restructure his contract to lower said cap hit, extending Anderson in the process. On the field, it’s almost a perfect fit.
