The NBA has brought the hammer down on Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban for admitting he told his team to tank, levying a $600,000 fine for the comments.

Perhaps even worse than Cuban’s comments to Julius Irving was the fact that, after the comments went viral, he blamed them on being starstruck.
This is a reasonable response by the Association for what Cuban did, because, while tanking is known to occur in the NBA, admitting you told your players to do it is just going to give the NBA a black eye.
So, in response to the black eye, the NBA is punching back in a big way.
