The Tennessee Titans have reportedly doubled down on Mike Mularkey. After coming out with a statement that Mularkey would be coaching the Titans in 2018, which was apparently necessary amid rumors he was going to be fired if the team lost to Kansas City, Tennessee has offered him a contract extension.

Titans fans likely aren’t thrilled about this news. And to be quite honest, neither is this scribe. Murlarkey has been responsible for the regression of Marcus Mariota and has continually allowed the young quarterback to play while injured, including late in the fourth quarter Saturday in a blowout loss.
The Titans did win nine games during the regular season and miraculously got past the wilted ruin of the Fighting Andy Reids in the Wild Card Playoffs. But this was a team that didn’t do anything special, on offense or defense, and that finished the season with a minus-22 point differential.
This decision to offer him a contract extension might be one the Titans live to regret.
