The New Orleans Breakers — 0-3 against the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL’s inaugural season in 2022 including a playoff loss — put those demons to rest with a 45-31 win against the Stallions on Saturday in Birmingham.
Breakers running back Wes Hills bulldozed for 191 yards on 34 carries, including three short touchdown runs, and McLeod Bethel-Thompson added three touchdowns through the air, as the Breakers (3-0) outscored the Stallions 21-7 after halftime and outgained them 483-253 for the game.
Alex McGough paced the Stallions (2-1) with 238 yards and two touchdowns in the air, though he was outdueled by Bethel-Thompson, who completed 20 of 28 passes for 283 yards.
