As the first quarter of Thursday’s game between the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City wound down, Boston star Jayson Tatum put Paul George on a poster.
After stealing the ball, Terry Rozier made a picture-perfect pass to hit Tatum in stride. Rather than concede the two points, George went up to try to defend the dunk. We admire his hustle, but George is probably second-guessing this decision. Tatum threw down a dunk that was, fittingly enough, thunderous.

It’s not that George’s defense was bad on this play. He really can’t be expected to do any more.
But Tatum’s burst to the rim was just a little bit better.
