When Atlanta Falcons wide receiver/return man Devin Hester scored his second touchdown of the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night, he broke Deion Sanders’ NFL record with 20 total returns for a touchdown in what has been a stellar career.
It came on a 62-yard punt return in the second quarter to put the Falcons up 34-0.
Needless to say, this has not been a good night for Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith, who was partly responsible for bringing Hester in the league as the head coach of the Chicago Bears back in 2006.
As it relates to Hester, he was able to break the record in front of his childhood hero and the man who he passed in the NFL record book, Deion Sanders. And he did it with the legendary Deion “high step.”
