In some NFL news out of left field this Friday, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten announced his retirement after 15 years of playing in the league. Fans of Witten will now get to watch him assume the lead analyst role on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
Now that the news has soaked in a bit, the Twitter world has plenty to say about the future Hall of Famer’s departure from the league.
I don’t understand what happened in the last couple of weeks to make such a drastic change. I love you @JasonWitten You are the best of the best. If we’ve reLly seen you in a @dallascowboys uniform for the last time my heart will be broken. 💙🐐😭 https://t.co/h6AHeSJrkq

I am not & never will be a #Cowboys fan but 100% respect to Jason Witten. Outstanding man & outstanding career. All the best in the booth to him. I know he'll be as professional there as he was on the field.

Dez Bryant is released.
Jason Witten retires.
Like who is Dak gonna throw to? Beasley?? 😂😂— JimBob Johnson (@JimBobwayz) April 27, 2018
The #Cowboys released @DezBryant, passed on #CalvinRidley in the #NFLDraft and now Jason Witten told the #Cowboys he's retiring.
Dak probably like … pic.twitter.com/GwuNMiynwX

So Troy Aikman, Tony Romo and Jason Witten would be the lead analysts for each network? Can’t wait for Dak Prescott to replace Kirk Herbstreit in 12 years. https://t.co/MuKOWPKvm7

Cowboys were not prepared for Jason Witten to retire. The irony is he blindsided them late in process like they did Dez Bryant. What will make you laugh will make you cry. He did what was best for him in terms of timing. It ain't personal its business.

So you drop Dez then lose Jason witten. And draft a LB in the first round… lol @dallascowboys

Jason Witten retiring, guess I’ll need to find another solid tight end to draft in the 12th round every year
