The Tennessee Titans did manage to edge out the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17, winning 15-10. Though, running back Derrick Henry was not happy about his personal performance which consisted of 51 rushing yards on 28 attempts.
This is what the second-year running back had to say.
“I didn’t feel like a workhorse back. I kind of felt soft, Henry said, per Terry McCormick of Titans Insider. I’m not happy about that game at all. It hasn’t left my mind since the clock hit 0:00. That’s why I’m working hard this week, trying to get better than I was last week and looking forward to this game on Saturday,” Henry said. “I just feel like I didn’t run like myself. I wasn’t really happy. I could say other words, but I have to play better.”
Henry received the start with veteran running back DeMarco Murray having been ruled out with a knee sprain.
The one bright spot in Henry’s performance was a sweet 66-yard catch-and-run touchdown. But, other than that, Henry struggled big time. He is going to have to make a better effort this Saturday when the team heads to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas City Chiefs.
At this time, Henry will prepare to once again be the lead back with Murray still missing practice. Fortunately for Henry, the Chiefs have surrendered the 25th-most rushing yards (118.1) on average per game at a pace of 4.3 yards per attempt. He stands to better his performance if his offense can be efficient when on the field.
Henry finished the 2017 regular season averaging 4.2 yards per carry which was down from his 4.5 average during his rookie year.
